Rumiby may remove content or restrict accounts, but official complaints should also go to the proper agency.
Rumiby supports equal housing opportunity. The federal Fair Housing Act generally prohibits discrimination in housing because of race, color, national origin, religion, sex, familial status, and disability. State and local laws may protect additional characteristics, such as age, marital status, source of income, military status, sexual orientation, gender identity, or other categories.
Every user—including owners, landlords, sellers, buyers, renters, property managers, advertisers, and real estate professionals—is responsible for understanding and following all laws that apply to their activities and location.
You may not use Rumiby to:
Phrases such as “adults only,” “no children,” or preferences for a particular race, religion, nationality, sex, or type of person may violate fair housing laws. Describe the property and objective eligibility requirements—not the kind of person you want to live there. Some legally recognized exemptions can be narrow and location-specific; users should obtain qualified legal guidance rather than assume an exemption applies.
Listing descriptions should focus on verifiable property characteristics, price, accessibility features, amenities, and neutral location information. Agents and other professionals must follow their licensing, ethics, advertising, and fair housing obligations when using Rumiby.
Rumiby does not authorize steering or discriminatory targeting. Any future personalization, advertising, screening, or recommendation feature must be designed and reviewed so it does not unlawfully exclude people or restrict housing opportunities.
Rumiby may review reported content, request information, remove or limit a listing, revoke verification, restrict communications, suspend an account, preserve relevant records, or cooperate with authorities when appropriate. These actions do not determine whether a law was violated and do not replace government enforcement or private legal remedies.
If you report a concern to Rumiby, include the listing URL, relevant messages, dates, and a concise description. Do not send passwords, Social Security numbers, bank details, or unnecessary sensitive documents. Reports may be sent to fairhousing@rumiby.com.
If you believe you experienced housing discrimination, you may contact the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), the U.S. Department of Justice, or an appropriate state or local fair housing agency. Government filing deadlines may apply; contacting Rumiby does not pause or extend them.
